A quick check list of terms used in SSBO:
Concessions:
A concession is a discounted ticket price offered to specific groups of people, usually those who qualify for reduced rates based on age, status, or circumstance.
Comp:
A comp (short for complimentary ticket) is a free ticket — one that’s issued without charge.
Comps are usually given to:
Performers or crew (for their own shows)
Press and reviewers
VIPs, sponsors or industry guests
Festival or venue staff
They work like regular tickets, they reserve a seat or entry, but no payment is taken and they’re not included in revenue.
Papering:
Papering means giving away free tickets, often in large numbers, to fill empty seats at a performance or event.
The goal is usually to:
Boost audience numbers so the venue looks full
Create a better atmosphere for performers and audiences
Encourage word-of-mouth or reviews that might help future sales
Unlike normal complimentary tickets (which are targeted or limited), papering usually means a broad or large-scale giveaway, often close to performance time when it’s clear seats won’t sell.
